Progress And Exciting Times.....

It has been another busy week both at The Rescue Place and at SHAK. Thank you to everyone of the recently expanded SHAK team for making all the work we've done possible.

There has been a lot of little bits of progress made this week, and unless you have met the dogs involved it may not seem a lot, but I can promise you that I've seen things this week I never thought I would. For example, Honey and Sonny have been spending a lot of time in and out of the kennel together, whilst Lewis has been making new friends too. He has enjoyed walks with George, Tilly, Miko and Grace, and it has to be said he is a lot more comfortable when there are other dogs around. Sonny also enjoyed a walk with Butch and Kane, and I think he is finally beginning to show what a nice sociable boy he can be. We have to remember that all of these dogs have been through so much, and often come with a reputation of being unsociable with other dogs. Therefor to have them walking with others shows how much progress they have made, taking into account all the other upheavals they have had to come to terms with.

There was a special moment too when I noticed Mona actually sitting on Brodie's knee in their kennel. Mona is a very special SHAK girl, and has had her ups and downs since arriving with us. Seeing her happy is such a nice thing.

Away from the kennels there has been a lot of work done too. Thanks to Susan for putting together some massive links and fundraising events for next year. One for your diary ladies, the SHAK Ladies Night on 18th February. Details to follow, but I've have heard things they have in place and what they are planning to auction off for the night, and lets just say it sounds like you girls will have a fab night!

I also hope to announce a massive sponsorship deal with a local radio station very soon, keep your eyes and ears open.

Everything is now arranged for one of the SHAK boys to go to his "Forever Foster" home this weekend after a successful sleepover earlier this week. As usual, I won't give anything away till I know he is home and settled, but this little guy deserves this.

One slight damper is that we still have Jack searching for his "Forever Foster" home. He is such a love able old guy, and is clearly just looking for someone to follow around. Anyone who is local and can maybes offer him that please get in touch shak@shak.org.uk or 07931 702345 (Please leave a message say you are interested in Jack.)
